Petri’s backround is dance. His formal studies started in Finland at the Theatre School Dance Department where he was studying contemporary dance. He decided to move to New York after he auditioned and got in to the legendary Alvin Ailey School. At the Ailey School he studied ballet, Martha Graham and Lester Horton techniques for three years.
After spending a number of years in the field of dance, Petri’s journey took another turn and he ended up touring around Europe under a big top for four years.
Music and other collaborations.
Music is a big part of Petri’s creative process, weather is has to do with creating a dance choreography or creating lyrics for a song. Whatever the performing medium is there’s always a rhythm to every step and act we make in life. And this is the case with every performance piece Petri is taking on stage.
